The collection contains records of Drury Wood Burnley, including his list of tax levies for the county June 1855; a bound volume containing his list of tax tickets, 1859-1862, a notebook listing license certificates issued, 1862, as commissioner of Frederick Parish; and his "gauger book," 1885, with statistics on liquor owned by individuals. The collection also contains genealogial sketches of the Burnley, Clarke, Garth, Watson and Wood families, and a manuscript copy of Miss Carrie C. Burnley's "Christmas in Virginia before and during the War Between the States," 1947, 6 pages; 6 certificates, 1881-1882, of Miss Carrie Burnley from Park Street Academy, Charlottesville, Va., and a list of its pupils, 1880-1881.
